HELENA – More than 400 teachers, students, firefighters and other public employees rallied in front of the state Capitol Monday to protest Republican recommendations to cut Gov. Brian Schweitzer’s proposed budget.

The governor wants to increase spending for education and social services, but the Legislature’s GOP leaders say Schweitzer’s revenue forecasts are overly optimistic. (Photo by Jayme Fraser)
